Оценка : Рецензия человека, фамилия которого, слишком известная... Deadmau5: Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Canada, Joel has been involved in the music and new media scene since 1998. He first started his career as co-producer of a Niagara Falls radio show "The Party Revolution" (101.1 The Planet). After gaining exposure to all the many facets of electronic music, Joel then moved on to collaborate with many other artists and record labels in many studios throughout the globe. Joel, also known as "deadmau5" has been internationally sought after to participate in a broad spectrum of musical ventures including developing sampling CDs, compilation albums, remixes, licensing deals and consulting services for many prominent music software companies. In the fall of 2004, Joel was contracted by D1 Music to do a remix of a song entitled "Pure" by Orgy which is included in their most current DVD entitled “Trans Global Spectacle”. Which in turn landed him another remix project with "Julien-K". Most recently, deadmau5 has teamed up with Steve Duda to form "BSOD", a hard hitting blend of house and techno. Other than that, you can find deadmau5 sitting at home plugging away on his computer and upsetting his neighbors, or walking to the store to get cigarettes and pop. FX - How did you first get interested in making music? D - I actually got interested in making music when it started to not suck so much.I mean, my upbringing in the scene was rather unusual. I guess it was timing, but I was the only guy in my area (that I knew of) around 1997 1998ish making music using only a PC and of course it was total crap. As the years went by and the digital domain really started to take hold I had the jump on things. Hell, I remember talking to a few guys back then, when their track making consisted of springs and cutting analogue tape. Yeah I didn’t know what they were talking about either. Then VST dropped and all was good, because I could turn my PC into a subtractive synth, sampler, recorder, drum machine, sequencer and well I was a pretty useful guy to have around the studio for that reason. Unfortunately, I was plagued as "the whiz kid" which led me to be many studio owners bitch but I’ve learned a lot about their world too. So it somehow all seemed necessary and worthwhile. 'GURU - finally a VSTi that’s more like the host I never had. Now I can just get my drum loops down without fighting with the thing for hours.' FX - What are you currently working on? D - Well let's see, I’ve also got a few remixes going on with the lovely, and equally talented Melleny Melody (Beautiful, Rich and Horny). So far we’ve gotten some decent feedback from it all, a play or 2 on Pete Tongs radio show. Tommy Lee has it in his set when he's out and about wrecking the clubs, so that’s all very exciting. FX - What was your first experience with music software? D - Impulse Tracker by Jeffrey Lim. oh oh oh, and Hammerhead! Wow flashback. I wonder if I have my old .it files laying around. That thing was fun. I was the coolest guy on the block because I had a soundblaster with not 16 but 32 megs of RAM on it so I could load the big sound fonts. Who’s laughing now? FX - What are your favourite plugins and for what reasons? D - Andy’s "super secret" VFilter, I can’t believe I use this thing on every single track. The filters are just SO FAT and soo many lovely flavours to choose from, such a handy handy toy. GURU - much for the same reasons I love women; she’s low on CPU, she’s reasonably priced, and she also comes complete with a library of presets…I love it when she's easy to use. Miracle Beats - Very cool freakin library! I love dipping into that from time to time for some fresh ideas when i’ve hit my stale point. Even better to just flip through the patterns and switch up the beats on the go for inspiration. I’m big on Reaktor too, but I also see a few tricks up FXpansion’s sleeves that just might put and end to all that FX - You are an avid supporter of music software but exactly how important is software in your setup? D - Music software is important to me as it's all I use, with the exception of a juno 106... (which I only have so that I can tell people I have one). Unless of course I am eating, in which case a fork tends to be more suitable (most of the time). FX - What FXpansion products do you own and how do you use them? D - BFD - I use it for the live drum sound, obviously, however you can get really whacked out with the thing. I'm really not much of a pro when it comes to "mixing a kit" or mixing anything in general. I kinda just go by my own little "if it sounds good yeah that’s great". BFD sounds good. I rike it arot. GURU - God bless it. Finally a VSTi that’s more like the host I never had. Now I can just get my drum loops down and tricked out with all the great FX without fighting with the thing for hours. VFilter / DNA - the filters oh so phat. FX - You passionately stay ahead of the latest software innovations, what would you like to see next from developers? D - Hey, i’m easy I say bring it all on! It's fun to kinda just toy around with something new even if it’s a new spin on an old idea. Just keep the filters and shapers coming please. FX - What do you have planned for the future? D - Well, I figure after I’m done answering all these questions, I was going to walk over to Tim Horton's and grab me a large coffee so I can get through with the rest of my day without any hitches. After that I think I’ll make an omelette. Нашли ошибку на этой странице? Пожалуйста, свяжитесь с нами.
